Beginner Guide: Beastmaster
The Wandering Barbarian
This guide was created in part based on Quivo’s beginner video for Beastmasters.
Why play a Beastmaster?
You should consider the Beastmaster if your ideal class fantasy is that of a Berserker who travels the world with his trusty animal companion, be it as He-Man and Battle Cat, Dar and Ruh, or Conan and Needle.
The Beastmaster is not a simple animal handler but fights in symbiosis with his pet. You will not only be spending your time barking orders at your pet, directing them from target to target while you heal it or contribute only 5% of the total damage with a weak bow or similar. You will of course be able to both heal and cure your pet but that is not your priority.
In groups, you will be there to do damage. This will require you to make use of your pet and its abilities, such as Invigorate Companion which resets your pets abilities, allowing them to be used again. You will also be able to provide an aura for your group which increases their Offense and Agility.
You will have some flexibility in terms of which pet you want to bring, for instance if playing solo it might be best to bring a tank to take the hits while you pummel the enemy. In groups it might be more useful to bring a pet focused on damage dealing most of the time. However, a balanced pet might be best in case your group’s composition is not ideal and a pet capable of occasionally helping out the tank will ensure your group’s success more than just additional damage.
An exciting aspect of exploration for the Beastmaster will be the discovery of new animals for your to tame.
What might dissuade you from playing a Beastmaster, is that it can require quite a bit of micromanaging. Ensuring you get the most out of your pet will require you to pay attention to its abilities as well as your own. This can make for a rather busy play-style that might not be what you are after.
On top of that comes the basic reality of owning a pet: You’re going to have to keep it fed, as well as yourself.
In closing, pick Beastmaster if you’re interested in being a barbarian type character who travels the lands with his animal companion.

From where you spawned in, you will see a ramp, possibly loading up to round hut. This is the “noob lift.” It is an elevator that will take you into the city proper. Walk inside and left-click the small bell hanging from a branch near the door. At the top of the lift, take an immediate left and wrap around across the rope bridge. Once across, turn right and head up the curved ramp, then head straight to the Well of Order. From there turn right and cross another rope bridge, turn left up a large curved ramp. Once upstairs, take the right path and cross the large open space to the rope bridge on the other side. Location of: Black Wolf Pups & Black Bats
Once downstairs turn left and follow the stone path until it reaches a bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left along the river to find the black wolf pups and black bats you need to kill in order to get six pieces of their meat. This is not the only place you can find them, just one of the closest. If there are other people here, take the right path from the lift and then left in the fork. Continue onwards until you reach a wagon and turn right. There should be more enemies there. Gather six pieces of the same kind of meat, you cannot mix and match them.
Put one piece of meat into each slot of the Hunt Satchel and return to Aerin. Hand her the satchel and she will ask you to taste the stew bubbling away in front of her.
