Oceanus Notos
THE BEATING OF WINGS SIGNAL THE IMMINENT ARRIVAL OF SHARP TALONS
Oceanus Notos has the largest islands of any part of the Atlantean ocean but also the deadliest. Great stone pillars jut from the ocean along the western edge and swarm with frenzied harpies, eager to defend their nests and make an easy meal for their young of any ambitious adventurer.
East of the harpy nests is the smallest of the 3 islands in this part of Atlantis. Whatever the Atlanteans might’ve called it is not known, for it is overrun by the nearby harpies and elementals of wind.
East of this unnamed island is the island of Scyrus. It is home to two large temples, one ruined and one not. The ruined temple sits up high on the mountain on the island and seems to be the makeshift castle of a particularly vicious harpy matriarch. The non-ruined temple has been described as being eerily silent, only briefly interrupted by the sound of stone dragging against stone. Legends tell of a great Atlantean hero who once used this island to hide from an great danger.
North of Scyrus is the island of Scheria. The meaning of this word continues to elude scholars and the local harpy population makes conducting research here hard. Not to mention the living statues that stand eternal guard of the island.
