Lyonesse

Lyonesse was once, by all accounts, a thriving kingdom on the southern tip of Albion. However, some unknown calamity has since struck the land. Whence this calamity came none can say for sure but many are inclined to believe it was the fault of knight Tristan, who in betraying his father caused the oceans to roar in anger and swallow his homeland whole as punishment. Others say it was due to his sorrow at seeing his beloved Iseult wed his father that caused his heart to break and that the oceans to swell with his tears, sweeping his father’s kingdom out to sea and allowing him and Iseult to escape together. History may never know the truth, since neither Tristan, Iseult or Tristan’s friend Lancelot have been seen in the realm for many years now.

What is known is that the flood waters yet still remain, holding the half submerged ruins of this once great kingdom hostage, with all manner of creatures prowling above and below the waves, indifferent to the wailing ghosts that haunt the shore and mourn their kingdom.

Scholars all agreed that whatever caused the calamity has left scars on the veil here and that if the balance between lfie and death were to shift, the veil would tear apart, at least momentarily.
