Theurgist

THE SPIRIT-CHARMER OF ALBION

AVAILABLE ON: Eden, Blackthorn, Live

To some Theurgists, the manner in which their Wizard compatriots wrest the power of the elements for their spells seems rather crude, if not downright despicable. Afterall, why take by force that which can be given freely if one merely takes the time to find a couple of appropriately benevolent spirits. Theurgists are silver-tongued magicians who, with a quiet whisper in a reverent tone, can summon forth an army of elemental spirits to crush any who would threaten their mortal ally.

Theurgists are a unique pet-focused spell-caster of Albion, who unlike traditional pet classes, can summon a small cohort of temporary spirit allies who perform a variety of different attacks on their designated target.

PvE:

Theurgists, like almost all spellcasters, fall within the “slow but steady” category when it comes to soloing in PvE. Pets are great for absorbing damage (or just outright killing enemies without them ever even looking in the Theurgist’s direction)

In groups, Theurgists are simply there to do damage, which can be accomplished in a variety of ways. With Cold Magic, your damage will primarily come from your pets, which you will have to summon in a rotation on the enemy targets. With Wind Magic, you will have access to strong single-target direct damage spells and mesmerization, which you can cast in between maintaining pets. With Earth Magic, you will have access to a pulsing Bladeturn spell which you need to maintain, so power conservation becomes slightly more important than with other skill line specializations.

RvR:

Theurgists are medium-to-decent solo duellists, with access to quite a few useful utilities. Chief among them being a movement speed spell, as well as some crowd control and pets, such as the air elementals, which have a chance on melee hits to apply a stun to their target or ice elementals which cast spells with a movement speed reduction attached.

In groups, Theurgists have supreme potential when it comes to disruption and while they are capable of dealing decent damage, it should not be their primary concern. Due to the nature of Theurgists pets, of which they can summon several and which will stick to a single target for their full duration of 2o-60 seconds depending on the type, Theurgists can with relative ease shut down several enemy spellcasters or supports. Always be on the lookout for targets who are casting spells freely and put an end to it.
