Healer

THE AUGUR OF EIR

AVAILABLE ON: Eden, Blackthorn, Live

Every summer, Men give offerings to the Æsir. None receive offerings more diligently than Eir, goddess of protection, mercy and healing, for not even the warriors of Midgard would wish to find themselves on the battlefield, or sunken and feverish in their own beds, without a Healer.Eir blesses her faithful with a portion of her healing powers, as well as the ability to change the course of a person’s life, which leads some to believe that Eir is actually one of the Norns, goddesses who shape the destinies of all mankind.

Midgard’s Healers are the most powerful of all the primary healers in the three realms. Not only are they gifted with an impressive repertoire of healing and buffing spells, they are also capable of performing the largest amount of crowd control in all the realms, making them the most complex class in the game, with both a decent skill floor and a high skill ceiling.

PvE:

While Healers are capable of soloing quite efficiently due to their strong self-buffs, they are much more effective when played in groups.

In groups, Healers are typically split between two different skill line specializations: Pacification Healers or Augmentation Healers.

Pacification (“Pac”) Healers have access to strong crowd control and are often preferred in groups that focus on pulling large quantities of enemies at once, which are then crowd controlled by the Healer and quickly dispatched by the group’s casters through area-of-effect spells.

Augmentation (“Aug”) Healers have access to strong buffs which cater to a more melee focused group, who instead of pulling large quantities at once, prefer to fight a constant stream of one-to-a-few enemies.

You will never feel unpopular as a Healer on Midgard.

RvR:

Healers are generally considered a pretty bad duellist, however due to the strong self-buffs they can win some 1-versus-1 fights. Due to their history of being the least offensive of all the primary healers, they are considered more of a ironic choice for soloing in RvR.

Like with PvE, Healers are subdivided by their specializations in RvR as well, leading a lot groups to run with two Healers, one of each spec. No matter your specialization, you will be in charge of healing and what you prefer to do at the same time is up to you.

Augmentation (“Aug”) Healers are the safer and easier-to-play choice, with minimal focus on crowd controlling the enemy group. This role is more reactive compared to Pacification’s more proactive role. Your primary responsibilities are healing, curing and making sure you are not caught out of position. Keep an eye on your teammates’ health bars and make sure you take a peek at the action from time to time to ensure you aren’t about to be attacked.

Pacification (“Pac”) Healers require somewhat more skill to play, since they are not simply reacting to the enemy but are given the task of initiating and controlling the battle. You will be closer to the front than your group’s Augmentation Healer due to needing to be able to reach the enemy’s back-line for crowd control and disruption, so extra caution in positioning is required. You will be given a wide variety of both cast and instant crowd control spells, both single target and area-of-effect for both types, and learning when it is best to use which spell is the secret to becoming a great Pacification Healer.
