Cleric

THE PONTIFEX OF ALBION

AVAILABLE ON: Eden, Blackthorn, Live

Blessed by the Church of Albion with supreme healing abilities and imbued with the power of God to smite their foes, the Clerics of Albion are the cornerstones of any party seeking to traverse the frontier and bring the wayward peoples of Hibernia and Midgard back into Arthur’s fold.

If the Armsmen of Albion are the shields upon which the enemy waves break, then the Clerics of Albion are the hands on their shoulders, holding them firm and strong, granting them unwavering courage against the savage and ferocious hordes.

As Albion’s strongest healing class, the Cleric’s job is fairly straight forward. They provide powerful enhancements before the battle and try their best to make sure everyone in their group survives to fight another day. Knowing when to apply which healing spell, when to make best use of defensive cooldowns and how to position are the tenets of the Cleric.

PvE:

Clerics specializing into the Smite skill line are capable of soloing in PvE at a decent level. With strong direct damage and access to a Stun spell, they can kill most level appropriate targets before needing to engage in melee combat*.

*On Eden, Smite Clerics also get access to a basic healing spell, reducing downtime and allowing the specialization to be played in group content while levelling as well

In groups, you will get your first taste of what it takes to keep a group alive. Your efficiency will revolve around being able to manage your power usage. Learning to predict incoming damage, choosing the most efficient healing spell and not panicking are skills you can easily practice in PvE groups before heading out into RvR.

RvR:

Smite Clerics are a popular choice for an off-meta and demanding solo class in RvR. It can be a satisfying experience when you are doing well and crushing in how pointless it can feel when you are not. It is recommended to gain some realm ranks through more traditional play before attempting solo.

As a Cleric, you will frequently be the enemy’s primary target, since not only will they remove a healer but also cause every buff that you have applied to disappear. Thus, it is imperative that you keep yourself safe and communicate with your team, so that they can give you the breathing room required to keep your team alive.

In addition to the standard healing triage, you will also be required to determine which effects, such as disease, poison or resistance decreases, you can afford to cure and which you can’t. Typically, a resistance decrease hitting a team member would indicate that they are about to take a large amount of damage.
