Eden devs introduce Fight Replays
Fights in New Frontiers are now recorded, and you can jump back into any of them from inside the game. Load a replay and you're standing in the middle of the fight as it happened. Over the top, the launcher runs a broadcast-style overlay with both sides' health and power, every CC with its timer, realm ability cooldowns ticking down, cast bars, a kill feed and damage meters. See exactly what happened in your fights, which mez broke and how long it held, whether a healer still had Purge up when you jumped them, and who made the insane plays.
The HUD
- A scoreboard across the top with each side's crest and group leader, a mark for every fighter still standing, kills on either side of the fight clock, and a bar splitting the damage each side has dealt. When it's over, it names the winner.
- A frame for every fighter down both edges of the screen. Health flares when someone drops under 20%, and their health bar gets outlined when they lose a fifth of their health within three seconds, so you can see the train start. When someone is mezzed, stunned or rooted, their icon becomes the spell holding them with the seconds counting down. Their realm abilities sit along the bottom, grayed out with the time left after a use. Click any frame to jump straight to that fighter.
- A kill feed in the bottom right. Each kill slides in glowing in the killer's color, showing the spell or melee hit that finished the job, and the killer's frame flashes.
- A focus card for whoever you're following, with their damage done, healing, damage taken, kills and deaths so far. Hit Meters and it turns into full damage, healing and damage taken rankings for both sides.
- Every death, hard CC and rez marked on the timeline, one side above and the other below. Click one and the replay jumps to just before it, so you can watch it play out again.
- Play, pause, skip 10 seconds either way, and run anywhere from 0.25x to 4x. Go to action drops you into the middle of the fight, and Stealthed shows or hides the stealthers. Drag any part of the HUD where you want it in the layout editor, or hit HUD to hide it.
Bring your group
Go over last night's fight with your group like a team vod review. When a group leader starts a replay, everyone in the group gets asked to join, and you all watch the same moment together. The leader runs play, pause, seeking and speed. Everyone else flies their own camera, inspects whoever they want, and can jump to the action or leave on their own. If you said no to the invite, /fightreplay join or Join group in the browser gets you in. When the leader switches fights the whole group goes with them, and when the leader leaves, the replay ends for everyone.
Jumping in
Type /fightreplay overlay to open the recordings browser in the launcher. Newest fights come first, with both sides' names on them. Search for a character, filter to fights with your own characters (My account), pick a size from 3v3 to 8v8, or show fair fights only. Pick one and you're there, paused at the start. Start from safe ground: a border or a relic town. You need to be alive and out of combat, and so does your group. Once you're in, nobody can see you and you see nothing of the live world, only the recorded players, pets and NPCs. Click any fighter to see their buffbar and group window exactly as they were at that moment. Deaths show up in your system window as they happen. Leave replay or /fightreplay stop puts you back where you started
Which fights get saved
A fight in New Frontiers is saved when someone dies, it lasts at least 10 seconds, and every side has 3 to 8 players. Uneven fights like 3v8 count, and so do three-realm fights, as long as every side fits. Recording starts 10 seconds before the first hit, so you get the approach too, and runs 5 seconds past the end.
Chat commands
The replay can also be run entirely from chat:
/fightreplay listshows recordings, newest first. Filter withplayer <name>,size 8v8,fairor a time window like24h, for example/fightreplay list size 3v3 fair 24h./fightreplay info #2shows the sides, deaths, kills, damage and healing for row 2 of your last list./fightreplay load #2starts that fight, paused. Add a time like1:30to start there instead./fightreplay playand/fightreplay pause/fightreplay seek 1:30jumps to a time.+10,-10and50%work too./fightreplay speed 2sets the speed, from 0.25 to 4./fightreplay restartgoes back to the start./fightreplay gotomoves you to the action./fightreplay stealth offhides stealthed players, andonshows them again./fightreplay joinjoins your group's replay./fightreplay stopends the replay and returns you to where you started.
Good to know
- Keeps show today's walls and doors, so doors look closed.
- Chat and the combat log aren't recorded.
- The opening spell's cast animation is often missing, because spells cast before the first hit aren't recorded.
- Going linkdead or leaving the region ends the replay and puts you back where you started.
