SILVER USED TO FLOW FROM THESE MOUNTAINS, NOW ONLY BLOOD...
The Silvermine Mountains have a pretty straight forward name: They are the mountains where the Celts mine for silver ore to make into coins. At least they were until the realm war started. With more defenders required for the frontier, guards were pulled from across the realm. The Silvermine Mountains had always been heavily protected to ensure the flow of silver never stopped. When guards were pulled from the towns of Howth and Ardagh, as well as the surrounding mines, people did not expect much trouble. They would soon be proven wrong though, as the increased guard presence had only served to lull the people into a false sense of security. Not long after the area saw a reduction in guard strength, did the first of the small creatures start appearing on the mountain sides, then in the forests, then on the plains, and then…
The miners and what few guards remained could do little to stop the tide of spraggons that seemed to pour forth from every corner of the earth. It was as if they had been there all along, disguised as rocks on the ground and gnarls on trees, suddenly growing eyes and attacking with wild abandon in a flurry of fang and claw. The mines were completely lost within hours and spraggons now dominate much of the area, even crossing the great lake that splits the mountains.
