After much deliberation as to the authenticity of the vision that had been granted to the most powerful men and women of the realm, it was not until messages from spies abroad spoke of the same visions happening across the realms that action was deemed necessary.

In Jordheim’s great temples to the Aesir and the Jotun, bones were tossed and sacrifices made to find the one most worthy of leading Midgard’s expedition. Though few were willing to wait for the signs to be interpreted and had already set off in their clans’ own dragonships in search of power and glory, it was eventually decided that Kolbjorn would lead the expedition as head loremaster.

With all possible haste, expeditions were organized to the mysterious island ruins where ancient power was promised to be revealed. Scholars pushed and shove each other with a fury matched only by that of the crushing advance of two opposing armies upon the frontiers, in order to secure one of the limited spots in the expeditions’ ships.
