Irish Sea

PRAY TO YOUR GODS FOR WIND IN YOUR SAILS AND DO NOT LINGER

The Irish Sea is, upon first inspection, nothing special. It is on most days a vast, open stretch of nothing but gentle waves, situated between Hibernia and Albion.

However, seemingly at random, it is capable of great changes in its nature. Within minutes and without warning, the waves can start to thrash and crash against themselves. Fishermen do not venture far from shore here and no armies cross here, despite the advantages of landing further in-land it might provide.

Priests, soothsayers and zealots of all kinds claim it is because the gods of the seas are not given their due anymore. Fishermen only take the bounty of the sea and give nothing in return. Navies sail armies across the seas but show no respect for the waves or make any offerings, so the depths claim what is owed.

In truth, what lurks beneath the waves is beyond gods and mortals. A relic from the distant past.
