Camelot
THE BUSTLING METROPOLIS OF ALBION AND FORMER SEAT OF KING ARTHUR
The governmental and cultural center of Albion. King Constantine sits on Arthur’s throne now, working hard not to let Arthur’s legacy slip through his fingers.
Not far from the king’s keep and throne room sits Merlin’s tower. The archwizard himself has yet to return to Camelot following the death of his dear friend and his tower is now mostly staffed by custodial staff and trusted advisors made up of the very best that the academy, that Merlin himself founded, has to offer.
The academy itself can feel like an otherworldly presence in the midst of the great city. Strange lights frequently light up the night sky above the academy and explosions are not uncommon to be heard from within the walls.
Also close to the king is the Church of Albion, the center of spirituality within the realm. Its holy chalice symbol is found in every town and village across the land, as adherence to Arthur’s God is an important part of life in Albion.
In the catacombs beneath the Church lurks a more sinister presence, however. No, not the Guild of Shadows, but the Temple of Arawn, lord of the underworld. In these dark and musty passages is where Necromancers, Heretics and Reavers congregate and are bestowed knowledge of their dark arts and mastery of undeath.
Speaking of the Guild of Shadows, they are situated not far from the academy, which is no coincidence. The academy’s students frequently require all manner ingredients, whether for sanctioned experiments or not. These cutthroats are loyal to none but themselves, and to a lesser degree their guild and the realm. Still, their limited loyalty to the realm is what allows their continued existence. That and the fact that they are good at their job.
Camelot is of course also headquarters to the Defenders of Albion, the unified military force of the realm, under the command of Duke Bors. Here young men and women from across the realm line up to do their duty and defend their home from threats both foreign and domestic, as well as safeguard Arthur’s legacy that their parents and grandparents paid for with their lives.
Though the Round Table sits empty, with Arthur dead, his knights gone and Merlin missing, life goes on in Camelot.
