Brimstone Caverns

Before he became king, young Arthur traveled far and wide as a squire. Some say it was to escape his foster brother, Kay, who was known as a poison-tongued boor. Some say it was divine providence that he would gain worldly knowledge before fulfilling his prophecy. Whatever the reason, Arthur returned to Albion as a knight, having made friends and allies in his father’s name across much of the known world. One of these was friends was a young Saracen nobleman, known only as Palomides. When Arthur ascended the throne of Albion, he bequeathed Palomides with a knighthood. Palomides was one of the first members of the Knights of the Round Table and the one who would be most fervent in his search for the Holy Grail. In this quest, he returned to his desert homeland but ultimately returned to Albion with no grail but haunted by something more than just failure.

Palomides eventually met his end at the blade of Sir Gawain and was, according to legend, buried in a small and serene valley in the Black Mountains.

Today, in a small valley in the Black Mountains, stands a portal. A portal suffused with dark energy and eternally howling with the screams of the damned.
